Your Privacy Matters
Your Privacy Matters
Regular tags show your name, phone number, and often your home address to anyone who happens to look at it. That information can be snapped in a second and reused for nuisance marketing calls, phishing texts that sound oddly personal, or even to confirm your house is empty while you’re traveling. Exposed details can also be cross-referenced with public records, giving bad actors everything they need to open bogus accounts or reroute your mail before you even land.
SeQR Smart Luggage Tags solve that simple but real problem: a finder scans the QR code to reach you, yet your contact details stay hidden inside our secure, app-free system—so your bag can get home without putting the rest of your life on display.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is a Smart Privacy Luggage Tag different from a traditional luggage tag?
A traditional luggage tag puts your name, phone number, and sometimes your home address on the outside of your bag for everyone at the airport to read. A SeQR privacy luggage tag replaces all of that with a QR code. When someone finds your bag, they scan the code with any smartphone, get a private messaging window, and reach you through an anonymous channel. Your phone number, email, and address never leave your account. Most people who find your bag want to help you get it back — we just make sure the few who don't can't use your details against you.
Do I need an app to use a SeQR smart luggage tag?
No app needed on either end. You set up your tag at seqrcontact.com in your phone's browser — it's a web app, not an App Store download. When a finder scans your QR code, their phone's camera opens a normal web page with a message box. They don't download anything, don't make an account, don't share their info unless they choose to. If you want push notifications, there is an optional Web Application you can add to your phone.
Do smart luggage tags with QR codes work internationally?
Yes — anywhere there's internet. A QR scan opens a web page, and a web page works the same in Tokyo as it does in Toledo. No international calling, no SIM card, no language barrier on the finder's side. This is one of the places traditional tags quietly fail: a US phone number is nearly useless to someone who finds your bag at Heathrow.
What happens when someone scans my SeQR privacy luggage tag?
Three things, in order. First, you get push a notification that your tag was scanned. Second, the finder sees whatever message you wrote (return instructions, a thank-you, allergy info for a pet tag, whatever fits the situation). Third, they can send you a message through the SeQR platform and optionally share their location, which shows up as a Google Maps link. We'll notify you of this message via push, email, or SMS, your choice. You reply from your end without your phone number ever being part of the conversation.
Are SeQR luggage tags TSA-approved?
Yes. The tags are made from tough, waterproof plastic with a stainless-steel twist-lock loop rated for 100+ pounds of force, and they meet TSA luggage tag requirements for domestic and international checked baggage. No metal inside the tag body, no tools required to attach, no red flags at a security screening
Is SeQR the same as an AirTag or Tile?
No, and the distinction matters. AirTags and Tile are trackers — they show you a map dot when your bag is near a compatible phone. That's useful in a narrow scenario, but they don't give a finder any way to contact you. No return channel. SeQR is the opposite: a passive contact tag that lets any finder, on any device, reach you through a private message without exposing your phone number. No battery to die. No ecosystem lock-in. Many customers use both — a tracker to find the bag, a SeQR tag so the finder can actually reach them.
Is SeQR a GPS tracker?
No — and that's intentional. SeQR isn't a tracker; it's a contact tag. There's no battery inside, no Bluetooth signal, nothing broadcasting your location. Instead, each tag has a printed QR code that a finder scans with any smartphone, which opens a private message window so they can reach you directly. You get notified the moment it's scanned, and the finder can choose to share their location as a Google Maps link.
We get why people ask — most travelers have heard of AirTags and assume anything on a bag must be a tracker. SeQR solves a different problem. Trackers tell you where your bag is. SeQR lets the finder reach you. Both are useful. They're just different tools.
Why isn't SeQR a GPS tracker? Wouldn't tracking be better?
Tracking is great for one scenario: your bag is somewhere nearby and you want a map dot. It's genuinely the right tool for "I left my backpack at the café two blocks back." But the moments that matter most in lost-bag situations aren't that — they're the moments where someone has already picked up your bag, and you need them to be able to reach you. Trackers structurally can't solve that. There's no return channel. You can watch a dot move through a stranger's house, but you can't message them.
A few other reasons we built SeQR the way we did:
- Trackers run out of battery. Most last around a year with no reliable low-battery warning, so the day you need it is often the day it's dead. SeQR has nothing to charge, nothing to replace, nothing that expires.
- Trackers depend on an ecosystem. AirTags need nearby iPhones to report location. Outside the Apple ecosystem — rural areas, many international destinations, any country where iPhones aren't the default — coverage thins out fast.
- Trackers create their own privacy tradeoff. A device that tells you where your bag is can also tell others where your bag is, or get flagged by modern anti-stalking alerts and disabled by a finder. SeQR only activates when a finder chooses to scan it.
- Most bag recoveries aren't about finding the bag. They're about a good samaritan deciding to help. Our job is to make that one decision as frictionless as possible: scan, message, done. No app for the finder, no phone call to a stranger's number, no language barrier.
A lot of our customers pair both — a tracker inside the bag to locate it, a SeQR tag on the outside so whoever finds it can actually reach them. The two tools complement each other. They don't replace each other.
Can I change the info on my tag after I buy it?
Yes, anytime, from your account. The QR code on the physical tag never changes, but the message behind it is fully editable — move, switch numbers, add a secondary contact, update travel dates — and the changes go live instantly. You're not buying a new tag every time your life changes.
Is there a subscription or monthly fee?
No. The tag is a one-time purchase and the messaging platform is free for life.
