A regular key tag — engraved, handwritten, or slipped into a plastic sleeve — requires that you put your name, phone number, and sometimes your home address right on your keys. If you lose them, whoever finds them now has enough information to find your house and know you're not home. A SeQR smart keychain tag replaces all of that with a QR code. A finder scans the tag with any smartphone, opens a private message window, and reaches you through an anonymous channel. Your name, phone number, and address never touch the physical tag. Most people who find a set of keys want to return them — we just make sure the few who don't can't use them to find your front door.

When a finder scans your QR code, their phone's camera opens a normal web page with a message box. They don't download anything, don't make an account, and don't have to share their information with you unless they choose to.
